Ruins of a Fort and monoliths "The Kacharies, an ancient tribe, established their fortified capital on the bank of Dhansiri river around 10th century AD. at Dimapur. The literal meaning of Dimapur is derived from Kachari synonym "Di", "Ma" and "Pur" which stands for the "great town on the bank of the river". The structural remains now lying at the site are mainly the remains of a brick built gateway and beautifully carved monolithic groups enclosed within the fortified complex. The stylistic features of the gateway suggest the Mughal architectural influence and can be placed around c. 16th century AD. The ruins of Dimapur bear testimony to the attainment of the Kacharies in town planning, architectural and sculptural works Superintendent Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey of India"
